This year’s program highlighted learning and exchange across education, AI, Local and international cross-lab collaboration, all rooted in practical making.
With close to 30 participants and representation from across the Nordic network, the week had the familiar bootcamp energy: fast workshops, shared problem-solving, and long evenings spent refining ideas together.
What happened during the the bootcamp
Across the five days, participants engaged in a broad range of activities spanning textile craft and digital fabrication, often blending the two in playful, practical ways.
Highlights included AI-based 3D workflows, embroider, Tufting, silkscreen printing, and metal laser cutting/raster work, alongside ongoing knowledge exchange around how we document and share within the network.
Creative projects popped up everywhere: tufted rugs and textile art pieces, embroidered caps, printed graphics, and small fabricated test pieces that quickly turned into new ideas for local lab use.

The event also featured new innovating ways of making from the network, including a workshop and presentation on generate 3D models from 2D images, a practical entry point into AI-supported 3D exploration. Another highlight was Jani Ylioja (Super Fab Lab Oulu) leading the build of a 3D-printed “Sampo” milling machine, produced with group support and ultimately gifted to Fab Lab Húsavík, exactly the kind of shared making that leaves something tangible behind.

Alongside the workshops, participants also exchanged approaches and projects such as GitHub-based documentation practices, crowd-thinking, PLA recycling, and local education initiatives, reinforcing the “bring it back to your lab” spirit of the bootcamp.
By the end of the week, everyone left tired and happy, with fresh skills, new connections and a renewed sense of what the Nordic network can do when we make and learn together.
