Next FabLab Bootcamp 2025 – Fablab Skanderborg – Danmark
The Bootcamp 2025 took place at Fablab Skanderborg in Denmark, nestled in the charming and scenic town of Skanderborg. Hosted from 6-10 January, it highlighted Denmark’s creative and collaborative spirit, featuring a variety of workshops from across the Nordic network. Participants had the opportunity to dive into hands-on activities like building a pizza oven, metal casting, screen textile printing, and much more, showcasing the versatility and innovation of Fablab Skanderborg.

What happened during the the bootcamp
Participants engaged in a diverse range of workshops and activities, showcasing both traditional craftsmanship and cutting-edge digital fabrication techniques. Highlights included casting metal, coding with Micro:bits and ESP32 microcontrollers, and fabricating printed circuit boards (PCBs) using CNC and laser technologies. Attendees explored creative projects such as building a pizza oven, engraving metal mesh for textile printing, and experimenting with polyester mesh techniques to produce unique fabric designs.
The event also featured groundbreaking innovations from the Nordic FabLab network. Jørgen from FabLab Ærø shared their remarkable work on autonomous “boatbots” and their contributions to maritime education. Jani from Super FabLab Oulu impressed participants with the fully operational Sampo DIY CNC router, a testament to the potential of open-source hardware and community-driven projects.
Every day offered new opportunities for learning and discovery, reinforcing the transformative power of collaboration within the FabLab ecosystem. This was my fourth Nordic FabLab Bootcamp, and each one continues to inspire me with its unique blend of creativity and camaraderie.
